The Ethical Leadership – Members Program is designed to provide leaders and practitioners with mentoring, video’s and exercises for personal and professional development. The program and is formatted with Accountability Challenges, group-based Q&A with Ilsé (Mon-Fri), and weekly lessons on topics such as ethical decision-making, moral psychology and coach competencies.

Ethical Decison-Making Model

Ethical decision-making is critical to a leader’s ability to establish personal convictions in business, outline normative behaviours and gain a deeper understanding of their moral psychology, including moral values, moral efficacy and moral blindspots. Each aspect of the Ethical Decision Making Model raises questions for the leader about how their moral psychology relates to their self-identity, perspectives and behaviours.

Moral Awareness -

“I feel”

The ability to recognise an ethical issue and empathically understanding its effect upon others and broader contexts. Moral awareness requires a great deal of ethical sensitivity to understand morality through the eyes of another. Dysfunctional personalities and influences can desensitise leaders to ethical issues.

Moral Reasoning -

“I ask”

The decision-maker grapples with the ethical dilemma, potential outcomes and forms judgment about the issue. Their reasoning relies upon multiple factors including their own moral development and can be impeded by defective moral reasoning.

Moral Intent -

“I think I will…”

The individual must intend to act upon resolving the ethical issue using strong moral judgment. The decision maker's cognitive motivations and external influences can affect whether or not they intend to address the ethical dilemma.

Moral Behaviour -

“I act”

Ethical decision-making requires that a morally based act is made. However, due to individual biases, break-downs in an earlier stage of the model, or weak ethical character, the decision-maker may avoid making an ethical decision.
